The eagerly anticipated new NK Hair Salon opened on 10th December in Henfield High Street - next door to Hamfields. After months of work to renovate the new building at 1 Brick House by owners Karen Gold and Neil Cox, the shiny new salon is finally open.
A vintage mini converted to a reception desk greets visitors, sprayed in the custom NK Hair pink. HIgh-shine marble flooring reflects the fibre-optic lighting and down-lighters, large mirrors give a feeling of space and light. The old elements of the building have been sensitively restored - exposed ancient beams and an inglenook fireplace which has been stripped back to the original brickwork - a real labour of love.
“It’s been an incredible amount of work but it’s been worth it. We’re hoping our excisting NK customers will love it and new customers too”, said Neil. “Many of our clients come from outside the village from as far afield as brighton so we’re pleased to be bringing more shoppers into
Henfield.
The design concept was developed by both Karen and Neil after looking at shops and salons around the country. Many ideas were gleaned from a staff trip to Rome to a Paul Mitchell seminar, with additional inspiration from influential hairstylist Robert Cromeans who has salons across the US and is renowned for his forward thinking salon designs.
“The new NK just had to have that WOW factor,” said Karen. “This is something i have always dreamed of, we wanted a really funky club style atmosphere and i think we’ve acheived it - but kept the classic feel of the building. It will make a visit to the hairstylists even more enjoyable!”
